Baskin-Robbins is a well-known ice cream shop that has been providing delicious treats to customers for almost 80 years. The company was founded in 1945 by brothers-in-law Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins. The two had a vision of creating an ice cream shop that offered customers a wide selection of flavors that could be enjoyed by everyone.
The Baskin-Robbins story began with the merging of two ice cream shops in Glendale, California. Burt Baskin owned Burton’s Ice Cream Shop, which specialized in unique and exotic flavors, while Irv Robbins managed the Snowbird Ice Cream Shop, a more traditional ice cream store. The two men combined their knowledge and resources and opened their first Baskin-Robbins store in 1945.
The new store offered customers 31 different flavors of ice cream. This was a revolutionary concept at the time, as most other ice cream parlors offered only a few flavors. The 31 flavors concept quickly caught on and the chain soon expanded to other cities in the United States.
By the 1970s, Baskin -obbins had become an international brand and had stores in countries around the world. The company continued to innovate and create new flavors, many of which have become iconic in their own right. The popular “Mint Chocolate Chip” flavor was created in 1973, while other classic flavors such as “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough” and “Rocky Road” were introduced in the 1980s.
Today, Baskin-Robbins is one of the largest and most well-known ice cream companies in the world, with more than 5,800 stores in over 50 countries. The company continues to innovate and create new flavors that appeal to customers of all ages. From the classic “31 flavors” to the more modern “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough” and “Rocky Road” flavors, Baskin-Robbins continues to provide customers with delicious treats that are both classic and modern.
